There's something fitting about breaking ground on affordable housing while it's raining in Atlanta. That's exactly what happened Monday when Mayor Dickens and Sharon Guest from Radiant Development Partners celebrated the start of Trinity Center Flats at 104 Trinity Avenue SW. This mixed-use project is yet another piece in South Downtown's ongoing evolution.

The location couldn't be better if you're looking for access to jobs, services, and transit. We're talking right across from Mercedes-Benz Stadium, in the heart of the corridor that's been seeing massive investment. The fact that it's affordable housing makes it even more significant, given how much of the new development in South Downtown has been aimed at higher income brackets.

This is the kind of project that shows the city is at least trying to balance all the luxury towers going up with housing that working people can actually afford. South Downtown has been on a roll lately, and having affordable options in the mix means the benefits might actually reach beyond just the highest earners.
