Atlanta's LGBTQ+ film festival has its new leader. Out on Film named former nonprofit executive Cindy L. Abel as its executive director, according to Rough Draft Atlanta.

Abel brings more than 25 years across the nonprofit, corporate, and entertainment worlds. She previously co-chaired the Gay & Lesbian Victory Fund, served as the first executive director of Georgia Equality, and held leadership roles with the Atlanta Film Festival and Women in Film & Television Atlanta.

The festival, which screens around Midtown, launched the search in April after founding executive director Justice Obiaya stepped down in March. Abel said she felt like the right person to help shepherd the festival into its next chapter.
