Georgia State University just dropped some big news for Summerhill. The school is planning a major expansion of its athletic facilities around Center Parc Stadium (the former Turner Field), with the goal of creating what they're calling an "athletics neighborhood."

The plan includes covered football practice fields, new softball and beach volleyball facilities, and improvements to the stadium itself. Everything would be clustered together, making it easy for fans to walk from games to the restaurants and bars on Georgia Avenue. With the new MARTA line to Summerhill opening next month, the timing couldn't be better.

GSU says this is about more than just sports. They want to boost fan engagement, give student-athletes better training facilities, and raise the school's profile in college athletics. For Summerhill residents, it means more foot traffic and more reasons for people to spend time (and money) in the neighborhood.
