The Braves couldn't have asked for a better start to their 60th Atlanta season. Chris Sale dominated over six innings, and the bats came alive early in a 6-0 shutout of the Kansas City Royals on Friday night.
Sale allowed just three hits while striking out six and walking three. Ozzie Albies got things started with a solo homer in the first, and NL Rookie of the Year Drake Baldwin added another in the third. Michael Harris II extended the lead with a two-run shot in the fourth.
Mauricio Dubon capped the scoring with a two-run double in the seventh. The revamped bullpen held Kansas City scoreless over the final three innings.
The energy at Truist Park was high for the home opener, the first since 2022. There's still no timeline on when Spencer Strider, Spencer Schwellenbach, or Hurston Waldrep will return from injuries.
