That impressive suspension bridge over Peachtree Creek on the BeltLine's Northwest Trail? It's coming apart. Less than a year after installation, contractor Reeves Young is disassembling the one-of-a-kind structure after an issue arose during a concrete deck pour.

Atlanta BeltLine Inc. says an independent engineering review found problems requiring "further evaluation and corrective action by the contractor." The poured concrete has already been removed, and crews are now taking apart the steel.

The bridge was part of Northwest Trail Segment 1 construction in Buckhead. When completed last May, commenters called it "quite impressive in person" and "bigger than you'd think for a trail bridge."

BeltLine officials note that no other sections of the 22-mile loop include a bridge of this type. There's no timeline yet for when the rebuilt bridge might be ready.
