You know how we've been waiting forever for the BeltLine to actually connect to MARTA? Well, it's finally happening, and we've got the details. The Oakland City MARTA station + Murphy Connector Trail (they're calling it the 'Oakland + Murphy Connector Trail' for short) will be the first direct link between our beloved loop and actual rapid transit.
This 1.31-mile connector will branch off the Southside Trail near Allene Avenue, right around where the Southwest Trail meets up. If you've been down to Lee + White lately, you know that whole area is absolutely exploding with development. The connector will serve both Oakland City and Capitol View neighborhoods, areas that have been seeing serious investment and interest lately.
What makes this especially exciting is the timing. These neighborhoods are in the middle of a major transformation, with new housing and businesses popping up regularly. Having direct MARTA access via the BeltLine could be the missing piece that really ties everything together for residents and visitors alike.
