The eastside is about to get a serious food upgrade. Robert Montwaid, who created the iconic Gansevoort Market in NYC's Meatpacking District, is bringing Vela Park Food Works to the new residential complex near East Lake Golf Club. The food hall is finishing construction now and should open in mid-April with six different chef-driven concepts, craft cocktails, and plenty of outdoor seating.

This will be Montwaid's third Atlanta food hall project, and his first venture into the eastside market. The location makes perfect sense given how much that area has been developing, with new apartments and condos popping up all around East Lake and the BeltLine extension. Having a high-quality food destination right there could really anchor the neighborhood and give residents something special within walking distance.

Vela Park Food Works is part of the larger nearly 12-acre rental complex, so it's designed to serve both residents and the broader community. Given Montwaid's track record in New York and his previous Atlanta successes, this could become another must-visit food destination. The timing is perfect too, as Atlanta's food scene continues to expand beyond the traditional hotspots into neighborhoods like this.
