Monday morning started with a bang as severe storms rolled through metro Atlanta, prompting tornado warnings for DeKalb and Rockdale counties that had everyone's phones buzzing at 6:30am. The tornado watch extends until 10am for most of north Georgia, and this line of storms means business.

We're looking at 70mph winds, possible spin-up tornadoes, and isolated large hail as this system moves through. It's the kind of weather that makes you grateful for that WSB-TV weather app everyone keeps telling you to download. Multiple school districts wisely went virtual or delayed classes, including Atlanta Public Schools going remote for the day.

Georgia Power positioned crews across the state over the weekend, anticipating the usual tree-down-power-line dance we all know too well. If you're reading this and still have electricity, count your blessings and maybe charge your devices while you can. The storm should clear out by mid-morning, but temperatures are going to drop dramatically behind the front.
