Georgia Tech and The Coca-Cola Company are finalizing a $31.3 million property deal that would shift a chunk of the beverage giant's North Avenue real estate onto the university's books. The two institutions have been neighbors since 1920, when Coca-Cola moved its operations to the area.

The 333 North Avenue property spans 3.2 acres and includes an Art Deco brick building from 1921 plus a 1971 warehouse. Coca-Cola has been using the property for employee training, according to CoStar. For Georgia Tech, the acquisition bumps up capacity for research, enrollment growth, and student programming, though specific expansion plans are still being finalized.

The deal folds in a 2-acre greenspace at the eastern edge of the property where North Avenue meets Tech Parkway, expanding university-controlled greenspace on the western edge of campus. The PATH Foundation's award-winning PATH Parkway bikeway, a 1.5-mile route connecting Midtown to downtown, runs through the area. Georgia Tech President Angel Cabrera called the pickup a strategic addition to the core campus.
