Tuition will rise 1% for Georgia students attending one of the state's public colleges or universities, the state Board of Regents decided Tuesday. The regents also increased tuition 3% for out-of-state students.

'With enrollment at record levels, we're focused on limiting new financial hurdles and delivering real value on every campus,' Chancellor Sonny Perdue said. 'Today's decision reinforces that commitment.'

The board also approved changes to mandatory fees at 13 public colleges and universities, including reduced fees at Kennesaw State University and Georgia Southern University. Officials noted this is only the fourth time in a decade the board has approved tuition increases, and the 1% rise remains below the current inflation rate.

The University System said students pay, on average, less in tuition now than in 2017 when adjusted for inflation. The new rates go into effect for Fall 2026 and Spring 2027.
