A new Change.org petition that's gathered hundreds of signatures is demanding transparency and action at Dewberry Capital's long-stalled high-rise redevelopment in the middle of Midtown.

The petition was started Friday by Midtown resident Gary Freedman, who lives in a condo across the street from the former Campanile building, long stripped to its concrete bones. Freedman has grown frustrated with the lack of development progress alongside many neighbors.

The site, located on 14th Street near Peachtree, has sat in its current state for years as Dewberry Capital has struggled to secure financing and tenants for the planned mixed-use tower. The exposed concrete structure has become an eyesore and, according to the petition, a potential safety hazard.

Residents are calling for the city to enforce code compliance and demand a concrete timeline from the developer. The petition asks for increased transparency about the project's status and future plans.

Dewberry Capital has not publicly responded to the petition. The developer has previously cited market conditions and financing challenges for the project's delays.

The stalled site stands in stark contrast to the construction boom elsewhere in Midtown, where multiple high-rise projects have broken ground and delivered in recent years.
