With Atlanta's first 2026 FIFA World Cup match just 76 days away, the long-vacant Atlanta Constitution Building is finally seeing action.

Developers Gorman & Company report that pre-World Cup phase one work has nearly finished at the iconic downtown structure at 143 Alabama St. The building's facade has been washed, metal panels covering windows have been removed and replaced with stained wood, and vinyl wraps are going up facing Forsyth Street. A mural project will line the bottom windows on Alabama Street.

The area behind the building, dubbed "The Pitch," will be activated during World Cup matches beginning in mid-June. Plans call for food, entertainment, and watch party programming throughout the tournament.

Post-World Cup, the adaptive-reuse project will continue with full renovation plans. The Constitution Building has been vacant for over a decade, and this transformation has been in the works for years.
