Atlanta restaurateur Rich Clark opens Clark's Steakhouse today in Buckhead's Garden Hills neighborhood, a long-planned project that arrives on the ground floor of the 2827 Peachtree building. The space leans classic New York steakhouse with Southern polish.

The menu pulls from Southern fare rooted in French technique with Texas-inspired fire, but what stands out most is the wine program. The team has assembled a 550-bottle list anchored by deep Bordeaux focus, which accounts for roughly a quarter of the selection. The emphasis grew out of a trip to Bordeaux that Clark took with fellow wine enthusiasts, where he was taken by how seamlessly the wines paired with seafood, a defining feature of the menu.

Diners will find nearly every first growth from Bordeaux and most second growths. Beverage director Alexa Robertson, formerly of C&S and Kaiser's Chophouse, leads a team that includes two certified sommeliers and seven introductory-level sommeliers. The by-the-glass list runs 18 wines spanning Champagne, sauvignon blanc, cabernet sauvignon, and Super Tuscans, with an intentional split between Old World and New World.

Clark, who also owns three C&S Seafood and Oyster Bar locations, said the concept clicked when the Peachtree Road space came available. "This has been a passion project through and through," he said. Dinner runs Monday through Friday from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday until 10 p.m., and Sunday until 9 p.m. Lunch service starts May 4.
