Memorial Day weekend in Atlanta starts with a Miles Davis tribute. The Miles Electric Band, also known as M.E.B., will perform in concert at Atlanta Symphony Hall on Friday, May 22, at 7:30 p.m. as part of the Atlanta Jazz Festival's slate around the Miles Davis centennial, according to The Atlanta Voice.

Founded in 2010 by Emmy and Grammy Award-winning producer and drummer Vince Wilburn Jr., a band member and the nephew of Miles Davis, M.E.B. has been playing the largest concert halls and festivals around the world for over a decade. The rotating ensemble brings together Davis alumni and a younger generation of modern jazz players, performing with the stated intention of expanding the boundaries of music while paying homage to the innovations of Davis's electric period.

The band's most recent recording, "That You Not Dare To Forget," released on Sony Legacy Recordings and produced by Lenny White and Wilburn, presents new studio recordings alongside echoes from Davis himself. Two of the album's five tracks include unreleased trumpet performances by Miles. The album features Ron Carter, Marcus Miller, Stanley Clarke, Donald Harrison, Darryl Jones, Vernon Reid, and John Scofield, and is dedicated to the memory of Wallace Roney and Bernard Wright.

For Midtown, the show continues a long Symphony Hall tradition of hosting jazz events that draw audiences from across the region. The Atlanta Symphony Hall sits at 1280 Peachtree Street NE, walking distance from the Woodruff Arts Center campus and a short drive from the BeltLine. Tickets are on sale now for the May 22 performance.
