If you've been walking around downtown lately, you might notice something different about the streets. That's because Partners for Home just announced they've hit a major milestone: more than 400 people who were previously living unsheltered downtown have been moved into stable, safe housing.
This is part of Downtown Rising, which kicked off last year as the first phase of Atlanta Rising, a massive $235 million, multi-year effort to address homelessness citywide. Officials called the 400-person goal 'ambitious' when they set it, so hitting it feels like a real win for the collaborative approach they've been taking.
The work isn't done, obviously. Homelessness remains one of Atlanta's most persistent challenges, and anyone who spends time downtown knows there's still a lot of work ahead. But having concrete numbers and measurable progress is encouraging. The next phases of Atlanta Rising will expand the effort beyond downtown to tackle the issue across the entire metro area.
