207 Peachtree, the 45,000-square-foot entertainment, dining, and event space in Downtown, has opened its Grand Ballroom, according to Rough Draft Atlanta.
The building sits at Peachtree Street and Andrew Young International Boulevard. It dates to the 1920s, was designed by Atlanta firm Pringle & Smith, and was originally home to Regenstein's Department Store. A $10.5 million modernization kept the historic character, and this is the first time every floor has been in use since the late 1970s.
The ballroom takes up 10,000 square feet on the second floor, with 14-foot ceilings, restored hardwood floors, crystal chandeliers, and the original windows looking out over Downtown. Nine oversized art pieces of Atlanta landmarks and cultural moments line the walls. It holds 300-plus guests for weddings, galas, and corporate events.
The building also houses five other concepts from RPB Management Group. A long-dark corner of Peachtree with the lights on across every floor is a good sign for Downtown.
