A partnership years in the making is filling Spelman's campus with film this summer. The Mary Schmidt Campbell Center for Innovation and the Arts hosted the second installment of the BLFF Encore Series on Thursday, part of a new collaboration between Spelman College and the BronzeLens Film Festival, according to The Atlanta Voice.
The series runs weekly on Thursdays through Aug. 6, with each night built around a distinct theme. Thursday's program centered on family, following a July 16 opening night themed around Afrofuturism.
BronzeLens director and founder Kathleen Bertrand, a Spelman graduate herself, said the partnership grew out of years of the festival holding events on the campus. For film lovers on the west side, it is a standing Thursday reason to head to the AUC.
