South Fulton is mourning two young lives lost after a shooting in the Cooks Landing subdivision Tuesday night. Police responded to the 4200 block of Fortune Point just before 8:30 p.m. and found two teenagers with gunshot wounds who were rushed to the hospital but didn't survive.

Both victims attended Banneker High School, adding to the tragedy for a school community that's now dealing with the loss of two students. Mayor Carmalitha Gumbs called it a 'devastating loss' and said the city is working closely with law enforcement to get answers for the families and community.

Investigators spent much of the night focused on a white sedan that was eventually towed from the scene, suggesting they may have significant evidence to work with. But as of now, no arrests have been announced and police haven't released information about a possible motive or suspect. It's another reminder of how gun violence continues to impact Atlanta's young people, even in suburban communities like South Fulton.
