You know that beautiful building near Zoo Atlanta that's been sitting empty since it opened five years ago? The one that won awards but somehow never got occupied? Well, the Grant Park Neighborhood Association just wrapped up a survey to figure out what the community actually wants to see in there, and the response was huge.
Over 750 people weighed in during a three-week period, which is pretty impressive for a neighborhood survey. Most of the respondents are regulars at the park, visiting daily or weekly, so these aren't random opinions but thoughts from people who actually use the space. The survey results could finally influence what the City of Atlanta decides to put in the Grant Park Gateway building.
City officials are saying this might be the year something actually happens with the space. After half a decade of that gorgeous building just sitting there mocking everyone who walks by, it would be nice to see it serve the community it was designed for. The location is prime real estate right at the gateway to one of Atlanta's most beloved parks, so whatever goes in there better be good.
