A new 60-unit affordable housing project is officially underway in East Point. Gorman & Company broke ground on The Fifty-Five on Friday, located at 2855 East Point Street near the East Point MARTA station.

The mixed-income development will include one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments for households earning between 30% and 80% of the area median income. Amenities will include a fitness center, computer lab, community space, and outdoor gathering areas.

The transit-oriented location is key. Residents will have direct access to MARTA, making it easier to commute without a car. That aligns with East Point's broader push to develop walkable, transit-connected neighborhoods.

"By creating new affordable housing in a multi-modal location, we're helping ensure East Point residents can remain in the community they call home while continuing to thrive," said Joel Reed, Southeast Market President at Gorman & Company.
