More than six months after breaking ground, an eastside intersection conversion and extension of a key Atlanta BeltLine trail connection remain incomplete, but better news could be on tap.

Georgia Department of Transportation's contractor has been working on the Moreland Avenue and Arkwright Place intersection, which will create a critical link for the BeltLine's eastside trail network.

The project will improve connectivity between Reynoldstown and points along the Old Fourth Ward trail segments. The historic trolley line path will eventually connect to the broader BeltLine network.

Construction delays have frustrated neighbors and BeltLine users, but officials say the project is now progressing toward completion. The intersection improvements will also enhance safety for cyclists and pedestrians crossing Moreland Avenue.

The BeltLine's eastside sections have seen the most development activity, with thousands of new housing units under construction or recently completed along the corridor.
