Hometown Foodie – How To Make Plant Based Dalgona Coffee
#foodie-all – by Ellen Britt
This past summer, Dalgona coffee was all the rage.
If you missed all the fuss, don’t worry, becuase Hometown Foodie has got you covered.
First of all, just what is Dalgona coffee? This delicious and easy to make concoction is a Korean recipe that took off on Tik Tok this summer. I’m not on Tik Tok but it was on other social media platforms as well, so I managed to hear about it.
It’s basically just instant coffee, sugar and a little hot water, whipped till creamy and thick and poured over milk and ice. Simple, but deadly delicious!
I like to make mine plant based, so I use oat milk instead of dairy milk, but of course that’s up to you.
For one serving I use one packet of Folger’s instant coffee crystals, 2 Tablespoons sugar and 2 Tablespoons very hot water. I put these ingredients in a bowl and with a small kitchen whisk I whip this until it’s creamy, thick and frothy, which takes about two minutes.
Then I pour oatmilk over ice in a pint Ball jar (it’s a Southern thing!) till about three fourths full, then pour the whipped coffee mix on top. I like to stir mine up before drinking through a straw. Try it, as I think you will love it. Let’s eat y’all…!
