Resurgens Theatre Company in Decatur is running a full season built around plays that William Shakespeare only contributed to. They're calling it Shakespeare's Apocrypha Now, and the first production is Sir Thomas More, a collaborative manuscript that lives at the British Library.
The programming is a chance for Decatur theatergoers to see work by the writers who shared a stage with Shakespeare, the collaborators whose names faded while his didn't. Resurgens has built a reputation for taking on material most companies won't touch.
The season is exactly the kind of programming that makes Decatur's small arts scene punch well above its population. Show dates and ticket info are available on the Resurgens Theatre Company website.
