Two years after its groundbreaking, Legacy at Herndon Square is nearly ready for residents. The building sits on the former Herndon Homes public housing site about a mile north of Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Northside Drive, putting it within walking distance of Georgia Tech, Centennial Yards, and a growing list of Westside job centers.

Of the 201 apartments (one, two, and three-bedroom units), just 30 will be market-rate. The remaining 170 qualify as Low Income Housing Tax Credit units, making this one of the larger affordable housing deliveries in Atlanta this year. The project also includes 10,000 square feet of commercial space set aside for resident programming and an enclosed parking deck.

The development is part of the larger Herndon Square master plan, which has been reshaping this 12-acre site for several years. A third phase with 178 mixed-income units is already rising behind the new building, with delivery expected in the second quarter of 2027.
