Decatur is making it easier to keep food scraps out of the landfill. The city is partnering with CompostNow to launch a curbside residential composting program starting April 21.

The program is subscription-based at $19 per month. Participating households get a 7-gallon curbside compost collection bin. Just toss in your food scraps, and CompostNow handles the rest.

For Decatur residents who've been driving their compost to drop-off sites or maintaining backyard bins, this is a much simpler option. CompostNow already operates in several Atlanta neighborhoods, so the infrastructure is proven. The city joins a growing list of metro Atlanta municipalities making composting more accessible.
