The Decatur Book Festival has revealed the first 16 authors on the bill for its 2026 event, set for Oct. 2 and 3 in Decatur.

The early lineup is heavy hitting. Pulitzer Prize winner Brian Goldstone gives the keynote on Friday, Oct. 2. Children's authors Katherine Applegate and Gennifer Choldenko headline a Saturday "Kidnote" session, New York Times bestselling author Tomi Adeyemi opens the festival morning for young adult readers, and the roster also includes the 25th U.S. Poet Laureate Arthur Sze and award-winning novelist Tayari Jones.

The Decatur Book Festival is one of the largest independent book festivals in the country, and it has long been a fixture of the fall calendar for intown readers. More authors are expected before October.
