The Braves couldn't keep the good times rolling in game two against the Sacramento A's, falling 5-2 at Truist Park on Tuesday night.
Jose Suarez, making his first start of the season, looked like a reliever early on. After Drake Baldwin put the Braves up 1-0 with his third home run of the season, Suarez gave up a two-out RBI single to Andy Ibanez in the second inning, followed by a ground-rule double from Jacob Wilson that scored two more.
The first and third innings were perfect for Suarez, who struck out six A's total. But the fourth inning brought more damage: a double by Max Muncy and another RBI single from Ibanez.
The Braves have had issues driving in runs early this season. Manager Walt Weiss has emphasized that pitching will be key, but the offense needs to find its rhythm. The series continues at Truist Park.
